Whittaker
In the Whittaker classroom, the curriculum supports the development of key skills in preparation for moving towards the upper school curriculum. The class provides structured learning opportunities and introduces timetabled sessions in a range of subjects, to develop interests and a love for learning while continuing to support the students’ cognitive, social and emotional development. Learners have access to a wealth of experts in school to access sessions in Hospitality, PD&HL, Outdoor Education and Horticulture & Agriculture, as well as classroom-based lessons for all core curriculum subjects.
The Whittaker class follow the primary model and links learning opportunities to the topic, providing opportunities for students to embed understanding in cross-curricular activities through a common theme. Problem-solving and independent activities are encouraged, and children are supported with group-focused tasks and individual targets.
Whittaker staff are able to provide a supportive learning environment that suits each learner’s needs.
