The Lord Mayor of York’s
Shine Awards 2020
One of our Senior Residential Social Care Workers, Dave Cartner, has been rewarded for his outstanding work with young people at school receiving ‘The Lord Mayor of York’s Shine Award 2020’. The ceremony was held on the 11th February 2020 at York Academy.
Dave received an award from the Lord Mayor of York, for 'going above and beyond' in his job, supporting a young person. He was nominated by the social worker of a child who Dave has been working with.
The Social Worker who nominated Dave gave him a glowing report, mentioning Dave didn’t only offer the student with social and emotional support but also took him to and from visits to his new foster carers to make sure he had settled, before and after contact. She went on to say that his help was invaluable and in 16 years of working as a social worker said she had never experienced the level of commitment and emotional support from a member of staff who she had come into contact. ‘Dave has made a significant difference in the young person’s life as a result of his work and we cannot thank him enough’ was some of the praise given by the social worker.
It goes without saying that The William Henry Smith school also congratulates Dave, he is a much-valued member of the team at the school.
