BBC Radio 2 - 500 Words Competition

9 April 2020

Congratulations goes out to one of our students, Spencer, who has gone above and beyond by entering the Radio 2, 500 words competition.  500 Words is the UK’s most successful short story-writing competition for children between the ages of 5 and 13 and is run by BBC Radio 2.

Spencer is 9 years old and has managed to get through to the next round with over 135,000 applications taking part in the first round.  He has named his story ‘Understand Me’ and received his certificate this morning.

This outstanding achievement has encouraged him to publish his own book which will soon be available on Amazon for children.

We at The William Henry Smith school are so proud of Spencer and wish him tremendous luck in the next round.
